Agree, for the idea that media organizations are out to get Musk, let’s remember how much news outlets have helped Musk become ultrawealthy by helping Tesla grow into a massive business. Tesla, as Musk noted in his New York Times DealBook Summit interview this week, doesn’t spend money on advertising. According to Tesla’s securities filings, that’s because “we have been able to generate significant media coverage of our company and our products.” The media writes about Musk because he’s a constant source of stories. There’s no anti-Musk conspiracy driving the coverage. Indeed, as Musk demonstrated with his “G-F-Y” comments, he’s doing a good job of ruining X’s business all on his own.

He can talk all he wants about winning over the hearts and minds of the public. But he’s not asking for votes. He’s running a business. And he shouldn’t mix the two up.

“What I care about is the reality of goodness not the perception of it and what I see all over the place is people who care about looking good while doing evil.” AMEN!

I feel like we are at a war with authenticity and it’s only going to get worse.
